Oh No- Whats on my head?

Just a couple of pictures from bath time tonight. Obviously Daddy was helping out and couldn’t resist some great pictures.

Well the weekend is over and believe it or not the tree is done!! YEAH! I wasn’t sure it would actually happen but we did and I think it looks beautiful. Maggie was a huge help and loved putting her special ornaments on the tree, she hasn’t moved too many as of today. I don’t think she likes that some needles fall off when you take them off. So that should help her leave them there. We will get some pictures soon. Now maybe tomorrow we can get the lights outside.

Layla has a tooth! It has taken forever but 1 tooth has finally come through. We had no idea she was teething she is still such a happy baby who makes lots of noise. We thought that since Maggie was such an early talker maybe Layla would be our quiet one. We were wrong she babbles all day and is already saying a few words. As far as crawling she still doesn’t get it, but that does not slow her down. If she wants something she will get it.

Winter in Wisconsin!

“We don’t get that much snow here anymore” that was what we heard when we moved here. But of course this year the snow has started early and just keeps coming. It is snowing again today so we will not be doing any shopping again, Christmas is almost here and we have nothing done! I am not complaining, yet, we have been enjoying bringing Maggie to play in it and are hoping Santa will bring a sled for Layla and then she may enjoy it more.

This week has been a little crazy and unfortunately we have not gone out with the girls much, Daddy has been working a lot and I’m trying to get over something. I lost my voice for a few days which Justin has not complained about. Talking to Maggie has been interesting she keeps asking why we have to be quiet. Hopefully we will be rid of it before the weekend is over.

My goal for the weekend is to get the tree finished, so far it just has lights!

Snow Day!

Playing with Dad

Our first Wisconsin Winter- and we are really enjoying it. Today has been full of SNOW. Well it actually started out as sleet but quickly turned into snow and it has been beautiful ever since. Lots of big fluffy snowflakes! Justin has done lots of shoveling and I’m sure will be doing lots more before the night is over.

He had off this morning and got to play outside with Maggie and they both enjoyed the time together and the snow. The shovel sled was a big hit! Hopefully Justin will be working a short day and we can enjoy an early night at home.

It seems like a great day to decorate the tree and get our house in the Christmas spirit!

The Christmas Tree- Before

The Christmas Tree- Before

After visiting Santa yesterday we were going to go as a family to pick out our Christmas Tree. Something I thought was very important to do as a family, Justin did not agree and he won this battle. I’m not sure why I thought it had to be done together and I can’t believe I’m going to say this but he was right.

I had this vision of us going in the snow and taking pictures while he was cutting down the tree. His vision was standing there with 2 crying children, and trying to get the tree out while carrying 2 children. And I’m sure his vision was more realistic.

After the trauma of seeing Santa I decided to let him go by himself. And our tree is beautiful and I can’t wait to see it decorated. I’m hoping the Christmas Elves will come tonight and do the job!

Mommy Blogs

So, the thing about this whole new approach and writing more is that I actually have to have something to write about. Who wants to hear about what I do everyday I think my life is pretty fun and my girls keep me busy but will anyone else really care. Well for all my family and friends who come to the site to see the girls feel free to go directly to the pictures, I will never know the difference and I wouldn’t be offended. Justin has been pushing me to write more since we started this site as a blog, my response was “who wants to hear about me and what we do everyday, its just normal Mommy stuff” well I was wrong. Over the last few months I have found many “Mommy blogs” and I am addicted. Its an amazing world when you can sit down at the end of the day and connect with moms who are going through the same thing as you, sometimes at the same time. Even though you don’t know them personally it is easy to connect and get advice without ever having to offend them if you don’t agree. Our Moms had the phone and we have the computer!

A New Approach!

So I’ve decided to take a new approach to our little website here, in the past I have only posted when I had pictures to share. Doing it this way I don’t write very often. After reading over yesterday’s post I realized how lucky I am to be home and how reading about how much fun we have can really help me get through the not so fun days. You know the ones with runny noses, no sleep or just the ones that seem to never end. I figure if I can do this it would be great way to share what the girls are up to, and since we all know I’m not very good at the whole baby book thing at least it will give us some sort of a record.

Today, we decided to tackle baking again. We haven’t done it in awhile and most of the time we’ve done it is the out of the box kind. So we decided to make Chocolate Chip Cookies this is a whole different experience with a two year old. Maggie loved it though and after getting over the fact that we were going to make a mess we both had fun. I don’t know why I cared about the mess its not like my kitchen is clean to begin with. The tricky part came when we had to put them in the oven, actually getting them out. We have a couple of dark batches but no burnt cookies. YEAH!! Watching Maggie dip them in her milk and devour them was great, she was proud that they were HER cookies she was eating.

Layla had to watch us and she was not happy about that, she made sure we knew she was there the whole time and then when it came to eating them she sat in her high chair licking her lips and saying “mmmmmm.” She is making new sounds everyday we’ve got mama and dada a few times. Her favorite is “Yeah” when she claps hands and her newest is “Bye” with an attempt at a wave each time. She is moving all over the place now, she has not figured out the crawling thing yet but that doesn’t slow her down. I’m sure it won’t be long and then there will be no stopping her.

PLAYING IN THE SNOW!

We received our first significant amount of snow overnight. Maggie could not wait to get her new snow pants on and go play, Layla as you can tell was not as excited. Most of the time she stayed in her carseat all cozy and warm I took her out just before going in the house to get some pictures. As you can tell I had great luck getting both girls to look at the camera without any tears.

Maggie loved the snow!!!! We made snow angels and she had a blast just falling in it over and over. It was not good for making a Snowman or Snowballs but she had fun just throwing it at me. As adults we view snow as an inconvenience and think how cold it is and horrible it is to drive. Then you watch a 2 year old play in it for the first time and forget all about the nuisances and remember how much fun it is.

Today was one of those days that I am so grateful to be home. After our playing in the snow we came in and had some Hot Chocolate (another 1st) with lots of Marshmallows of course. And we ended our day watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. This was one of those days that make all the hard days worth it.

If everyday was like today would we truly appreciate them!
